Junior Designer

We are looking for a motivated and hungry Junior Designer who’s keen to start working as part of a human-centred design team. We don’t mind if you’re a recent graduate or a designer with some initial commercial experience. What’s important is that you have bags of potential and a passion for UX & UI design. We’re looking for a raw talent we can nurture and grow.

About Tangent

Tangent is a fast-growing digital product agency of 100+ employees. We have a global client base across sectors, meaning you will get the opportunity to work on various digital projects. That can be everything from websites, apps to internal tools that drive our client's businesses.
Our core design team is in London but working remotely. This has given us the opportunity to recruit further afield in other countries. Our initial target areas are South Africa and Spain. But we are open to speaking with designers based in time zones with 3 hours of the UK.
You will get the opportunity to work on a variety of projects and clients. Here’s a taster as to the types of things you will be working on:

About the role

Framing the problem - Before we can design the solution we need to understand the problem. You will have the opportunity to support our senior team during customer interviews and stakeholder workshops to uncover and capture users’ needs.
Prototyping & testing - From paper to hi-fidelity clickable wireframes, prototyping is how we explore potential solutions. We need you to be a wealth of ideas, proving multiple design solutions we can test and validate.
Branding - We love working with start-ups/scale-ups - but more often than not they need a brand refresh. You will support our senior team to deliver branding concepts and creative applications that elevate our clients above the competition.
UI design – Many of our clients ask us to transform their legacy digital products. We need you to consistently, yet creatively, apply design styles across modules/components.

Desired Skill & Experience

  • A quick learner capable of working remotely.
  • Has the ability to decipher a brief, ask the right questions, make decisions, and communicate your strategy/reasoning to key stakeholders.
  • An interest in UX/UI and how design can help make products work for users.
  • A keen eye for detail and a perfectionist approach, while still being able to deliver at pace.
  • A self-starting mentality with effective time management skills.
  • Confident working within Figma, Photoshop & Illustrator.

We want to see:

  • A portfolio demonstrating your potential as a product designer.
  • Your commercial (or project) work to date in UX, UI or brand design.
  • You’re understanding and experiences to date of practicing user centred design.
